i am driving a race car at an asphalt oval track this year and i need some more power. the engine does have some work done as far as shaved head bigger rockers and a 98 cam but its not enough so i am coming to yall to to see if there is anything that i could do to get me that little extra. note the engine has to be stock basically but thats what rules say lol, i just cant do like headers and cold air intake. i also heard something about putting a 2.3 quad 4 throttle body butteryfly in a 2.2l throttle body and getting it machined out to fit, i was wondering will that even work? hopefully yall can help me out, i would greatly appreciate it. thanks kevin
there are plenty of internal tricks you can do to gain some ponies. the question is, do you really wanna spend the money to go down that road? lol
i dont know a whole lot about the OHV but engine coatings, cryotreatments, nitride treatments, etc. can be worth some.
basic things include thinner head gasket, lighter valvetrain, lighter rotating assembly, and of course lightening the car.
Aren't 98+ pistons an upgrade for the 97 and earlier engines? I'm sure I read that on here somewhere.
