Any aftermarket eco camshafts need upgraded valvesprings. 93 octane fuel is not a substitute for a tune, you will hate any cam that you get if you dont get your ECM retuned.
Stage 3s are just fine for the street. They are not actually THAT big of a cam.
its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa
the problem is that nobody here in mexico know how to tune well with hp tunners by the correct way....here are more fans for VW and MOPAR engines.....its few people that choose gm engines to modify

Then it looks like you have some reading to do on the HPTuners forum...

Considering fuel prices these days, this is a legitimate question - how much do you care about mileage? Camshafts are very much going to affect economy. If you don't plan on revving to 8k rpm and finding every last bit of peak hp, you may want to consider the "smaller" cams vs stage 3. While i have not directly worked with stage 1, i have worked with the "blower grind" (stage 1.5), and stage 3, and while the cars that they were on were different builds, there was a notable difference in economy.
Best of luck with the build!

You have to send a stock one out to be reground. BTW, your sig is too big.

Not saying that I'm running perfect (Trifecta tuned...) however I'm also on stock valve springs with a set of custom grind camshafts from TriFlow (comp afiliate)

What are the specs on your cams and what RPM are you running to?

would be nice to see what people are doing for the 3 stages as far as the springs that would be required.
I was actually looking to do some cams and was unsure as to what springs exactly would be needed for either.
Thanks

I know I've got the grind somewhere... but I can't remember where it is. They're a bit more agressive than stage 1, not so much to stage 2, but they also have offset intake and exhaust times so both ports dont open at the same time.
I am tuned to rev limit at 7100

Jay, you are flirting with disaster. 7k is the max for the stock valvetrain and Comps Stage 1 grind is well over the maximum lift that the stock springs can handle safely.
Jason, Supertech's 78lb kit is the one that everyone likes and they have been used with Stage 3 grinds. Also Supertechs's 94lb kit has the same exact specs as the GMR kit.

Yea no doubt eh
I am afraid of installing the new valve springs... do I need any specific special tools or knowhow?

Stage 3 cams here with stock valvesprings...rev limit also at 7100 rpm. Don't drive the car at all so its been fine so far. I really want to get patriot stage 2 head with valvetrain. How does patriot's valvetrain compare to supertech ( the good but cheaper alternative to ferrea?)
