i was talking to a few honda buddies of mine and they where saying a velocity stack is supposed to add up 10 hp. is that true?

Just less restriction is the idea!
If you use concrete tubes, you can make killer velocity stacks. The bigger the opening, the more air, the more horsepower. I'd find the biggest one you can find, coat it in fiberglass resin so it doesn't get wet, and mount it on your bumper.
Filtered air > velocity stack air
Lol @ this thread anyone want to buy a Cav I'm out.

a single one (tuned) can help on an n/a engine, guys....
but having an actual intake manifold that utilizes them on each runner on the inside of the plenum definitely helps a lot. (again, if tuned correctly)

agreed. I don't know whats more idiotic, the original post or majority of the answers thus far.
I've thought the same thing before Brandon, trust me.
I personally run one on the track. Call it dumb if ud like lol. No real proof on HP numbers mind you, but ive looked at almost every high-dollar car at our CSCS races, and they all run em.

You do realize that these aren't mutually exclusive. Take a look at some proper ITB's sometime.
I have no signiture
Better laminar flow with velocity stacks over straight tubes equals higher, less turbulent velocity into the throttlebody/ plenum or whatever which would produce more power if tuned properly, and cammed .
Most of the L24 and L24E Skyline engines were using velocity stacks when racing as does the Bmw's and a host of other manufacturers for the best flow possible.
Even the exhaust tip could benefit from the use of a velocity stack on the end. Well, to a point at least. lol

exactly if some people would venture outside the jbo realm and saw the real things people are doing like on forums like honda-tech might change their outlooks....

It's sad, really. Frankly, even with as much as I know, I couldn't hold a flame to many of the Honda guys on Honda-Tech. When I'm looking for answers, that's typically where I end up.

And I'll be it had ALOT more than just velocity stacks on it.

No..... well maybe.
But it was mostly that it only had 2 wheels and weighed in at under 500 lbs.

well there is actual dyno proof of it on honda-tech and it was a 10 hp increase on one of their intakes. IRRC they tested a bunch of different brand stacks on different brand intakes on the dyno.

Sure..Because I don't believe a velocity stack hanging out of the front bumper will add 10hp.

more like because they are light years ahead of ANY jbody on here...
fetter tuned me into i believe it was a 8.80 @ 182 mph... that car had velocity stacks and was a full bodied honda weighing like 2300lbs... why in the world put a velocity stack on a car that is that fast? its already fast, must have been for looks.
if you want to LEARN how to do something... honda-tech is where you need to be.
