Oil Cooler
Sunday, May 15, 2011 1:56 PM
So this has probobly been talked about before, but im thinking about putting an oil cooler on my 01 2.2. the feed line for the cooler is going to come from the oil pan like usual, but where should the return line go, back to the pan or can i have it return oil over the rocker arms. i was going to just put it in the valve cover put dont want to flood the top end with too much oil

oh, and yes i am going to put a pump on the feed line so i can get the oil pumped up to the valves

why use a pump for the cooler? there's a bos with a plug on it on the back of the block. it's 1/4 npt. or get a filter sandwich adapter from glowshift.

Get an oil cooler kit with an 18x1.5 sandwich adapter and thermostat. You dont want high pressure (cold) oil going through the cooler. Plus cold oil really doesnt need any more cooling.

The adapter mounts on the oil filter pad. There should be an inlet and outlet port on the adapter. You then route oil lines to the cooler and back to the adapter. The oil filter mounts on the adapter, thus the reason its called a sammich adapter. Some adapters have built in thermostats, then there are in-line thermostats available. Good luck.
