Has anyone tried to swap the stock 2.2 ecotec engine in a 2005 cavalier for a ECOTEC 2.0L Turbocharged (LNF)? If so, how did it go? What type of issues did you run into? What motor mounts did you use? Just give me all information you can.
No one has because swapping the turbo system onto your engine is simpler/easier and will get close to the same results.
its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa
Would it be as reliable? Wouldnt you have to pretty much rebuild the engine to make sure it won't blow up in a month? Are you sure after all of that it will still be cheaper?
The LNF would be an electronic nightmare(VVT and Direct Injection to name a few things)... And if its built right, a boosted L61 will be reliable

This. And in all reality, for the cost of the swap, you can put together an aftermarket turbo setup and build the l61. If you use a LE5 (2.4) block from '06-07, they come with forged internals. So build an L61 head so you can retain your stock ECM, bolt it to the LE5 block, use an external trigger wheel to time it, and build your own turbo kit. Saves you the hassle of fabbing custom mounts and electronic solutions ( which can get costly quick). I would say a well tuned t3/t4 setup on a le5/l61 hybrid will outperform the LNG setup hands down.

As long as you keep the engine under ~270whp and it has a good tune it will be fine.

So will my current stock GM 4T40 transmission work with the LE5 block? Will my current motor mounts work with LE5 block? Also, will the block and head be direct bolt on to each other with no mods?
It's covered pretty well, the hint is search for da flyin sqwerl

Smh...If you took the time and thought to post a "woah is me. I'm so sad now
" comment, why not just use that same amount of effort to post something helpful and relevant to the thread?
I swear people whine to much on the internet...
You say that but go look at honda tech. I wish we were like that.

In my mind, Matt is a God. And probably will save the world one day with the amount of knowledge he's amassed over the years.
I see that you just joined the forum a couple of days ago. Obviously you didn't spend much time looking around. There is a search button at the top of each forum and it's a very useful tool. You could have probably even clicked the page listings at the bottom of the thread list and even found answers that you're looking for. But instead, you decided to ask the very same question that gets asked over and over and over again. People get upset over that, because it's awfully wasteful to answer the same question once a week. Some people stick around to help people that actually need help, not those who just want a hand out. So instead, when you don't get the answer you want, you call everyone a bunch of dicks, and probably won't ever get any help.
I don't understand why you're so worried about the swap anyways. I mean if you're not capable of using a search button on an internet forum, you're probably not capable of doing an engine swap. But anyways here are some links
here
also here
and here as well
And you can use this search as well....

Thank you, and have a nice day.

lol i'm working on it trust me =)
Man its people like you that make me still want to mod my cav. dont feel so bad every ecotec build google search i do shows DaFlyinSkwirl.
No, you cannot swap an LNF into a jbody. It is totally impossible, has never been done, and should never be attempted. How's that for a real, straightforward answer?
In all seriousness though, the tried and true phrase applies: "If you have to ask, then don't even think about it"

At the same time everyone has to ask questions at some point. No one is born knowing all things cavalier. I'd much rather get all the bitching and find out its not possible than to waste thousands of dollars unnecessarily.
On another note. To all the crying long time jbody members who are bitching on this thread: I got it. You are like kids who just made a macaroni card and put it on the fridge and now you want everybody to see it. Thanks to EVILution (KGM Godfather) I know all I need to know and didnt get any smart ass replies just an answer from a mature person who seems to know what he is talking about. And to DaFlyinSkwirl the all knowing cavalier god I'm sorry I had no clue you existed but apparently you have a large following of people who want nothing but to be you. I on the other hand, I am not a follower. Your arrogance has destroyed any chance of me even looking up your work. smh.... Stop whining so much, its so pitiful.... Your name isn't Shelby, Saleen, or Roush and you dnt work for AMG, M, Alpina, or any other big tuning name...
I will say the search function on this site sucks, always have. I have searched for things I have found before and can not find them. I usually won't bother searching for things with the search button.
This topic is not asked as often as what intake etc... We have plenty of people who mod and are not on this site or anything forum, but friends with a person who is, so things do get done that is not widely known, or posted on this site, so asking is not a bad thing. That is what a forum is for.
Now asking a question that has a active post 3 below it now that is stupid. At least search the active threads in a forum first.
Out side of that stop bitching, dont post.
