Just before winter i purchaed a 1996 chevy cavalier with a 2.4l quad4 its equpied with a manual transmission I didnt have a garage so i didnt get much done to it this winter but recently i installed Airintake, Headers, 180* thermostat, Full exhaust from header back. Converted front o2 to heated after some stability issues. Junked the ac pump and put a shorter belt on to just run the alt.

Thats were it sits today, Last friday i ran a 16.666 at 84.23 mph Launch time was .103 And honestly im just not happy with that time. So Question is what should be my next step im taking this one thing at a time because i dont have alot of experiance nor alot of money.

What do you guys think whats next!

Ditch one of the headers, you don't need 2 in the car. Im sure the weight will cut some time off the 1/4 mile.

Suspension mods should have been your first things today. Struts & Springs, control arm bushings, swaybar bushings, sway bar bushings, strut mounts.
Then motor mounts upper and lower (I would go with TurboTechRacing.com.)

I agree, reduce the weight and get some suspension on it.

But the second header makes it look like a mini v8! jk One race day i did strip the car removed spair tired and jack, rear seat, sterio equipment, tools, raced on 1/8th tank of gas. Not a tone of stuff i coulda removed the plastic door pannels? eh not worth it lol..

I guess i should have listed what was previously done to the car. only after market parts on the car when i got it was eibachi suspension and some aftermarket rims and tires

One problem i did knotice was the car hops insted of a burn out it bounces before it gets traction? the tires are 225 insted of 205 is it the wideness of the tire?

Check up in the suspension forum on wheel hop, it's there.

Well bolt on's can only get you so far. A tune will help.

But upgrade your cams, increase compression, etc. would help big.

GMR has got nothing on this

Wheel hop is never good when trying to go fast. Motor/trans mounts and control arm bushings will do wonders.

Ive seen stock, unmodded cars go faster than that. Might be some driver error. Also, what size rims? Heavy ass 18s or 19s will make the car much slower too.
