i recently blew up my 2.2 motor in my 96 cavalier and have been thinking about the 2.2 ecotech swap.
would the ecotech motor work with the stock 96 transmission.
let me know if that would work or would i need another transmission.

You need the eco tranny. The bell-housings are different.
