wow ive spent the last hour punching in various things on the search to find this out: what is the name of the air box on the 2.4 the one that mounts to the throttle body? and would removing the stock air filter box and the s-tubing and simply mounting a k&n cone filter on the opening of the throttle body "airbox" be any advantage over a stock intake minus the intake "bong" and a k&n drop in?
Not really... but it'll make noise when you hit the gas.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
The resonator slows the volocity of yhe air on your intake. So yes the advantage is higher volocity.
gets rid of an ugly piece of plastic, i suppose thats a bonus. also more room to get to the front of the engine.
That air resonator box makes the car make less intake noise. Don't put the air filter right on the tb, you me giving up mid range power for throttle response.

ok thanks, what i meant was leaving the resonator box on and putting a cone filter on the end of it, like where the s-tube would normally go? my thinking that the s-tube would be quite restrictive because of the flexible ruffles? i understand a full intake would be better altogether but im saving for a wedding at the moment ha!
Just buy one of the cheap ebay intake and put some AEM dryflow or K&N on it.
