So i have a 1996 Chevy cavalier with a 2.4l manual. Its got ebachi lowering springs intake header full exhaust and its curently runing 16.1 which im almost happy with it blows the doors off any n/a honda around here. However i recently got the idea of a 2.3l ho head on a 2.4l block there almost the same motor right? im courious because i used to have a pontiac grandam with a 2.3l ho FAST CAR.. Is is posible? would it run on a stock tune at all?
search "086 swap" it can be done, you will need some tuning, some light mods need to be done to the head to work with the 2.4 head\gasket, and HO cams might fit and they might not....no one has measured.

your car has a 16.1 compression?
I think the fastest i ran with my grand am with auto was 16.4 or 16.3. Ill have to dig my time slips out. But that was with the stock intake mani and stock exh. Motor was built tho.
I have a manual no auto so that helps alot i think my problem is top end... i have NEVER been takin off the line but once i hit 3rd geat im SCREWED!!!... I do have bad motor mounts and plan on replaceing them with the hardened ones from ebay for 115$ but after that im kinda not sure what i want to do.. sec cam and tune... 2.3 head sec cam tune... i just dont know i really dont want to repalce my headers and im sure i will have to for 2.3 head
