My 2.4 has developed a ticking sound when accelerating and driving, louder with more rpm's but quites once up to speed and rpms level off. Does not make this ticking at sound when at speed and out of gear when I rev the engine or otherwise. Searched for ticking sounds on the forums, found the ones that say wrist pin/rod bearings, I was going to listen to the videos to see if the sound was similar but the links are now bad.. several years old. Could it be something in my clutch making this noise since it seems to be only when its engaged/accelerating or something in the trans or diff?
Another thing that has been said is if I have an exhaust leak on the header for one cylinder in specific would make this noise, even just a small hole?
Also have had issues with the engine not running as smooth as it should, very noticable at times, but then it smooths out. Verified that all cylinders have spark, could be injectors maybe?
Any help/advice is appreciated... Thanks guys
its most likely just more apparent when accelerating or the clutch is engaged becuase there is a load on the engine. id have someone hold the rpms up to where it makes the noise and go around the engine with a stethoscope and find where its loudest. it should be pretty obvious with the hood up whether or not its and engine or exhaust noise. if u find 100% that it isnt making the noise while reving or when the clutch isnt ingaged is say it has got to be a clutch or trans problem. thats the most help i guy be for forum diagnostics!! lol good luck!!
i love my mini camaro
