I have 2.25" magnaflow muffler, resonator, catalytic converter and tip going on my car.
The dude who owns the exhaust shop told me that I didn't really need a resonator on a 2.2 and that it didn't even come with one.
Well my question is, do I really need the resonator? Does my car actually come with one or is this guy a jackass? And what is the point of a resonator?
My current setup engine wise is stock, everything on the engine is brand new, except the headers which are next, but all upgrades have been audio. So the exhaust is my first upgrade that could be considered "performance"
Resonator will quiet the rasp caused by the magnaflow muffler. It is not necessary but is recommended for better sound.
Car is for sale.
do you want it to not be a super annoying sound? then you want a resonator.
do you want a stock honda, gutted cat, coil flex pipe with fart can wet fart through a megaphone sound? then leave the resonator off.

The exhaust shop told me the same thing back when I was getting the exhaust done for the saturn. And mechanics have asked why I put one in ever since. Its a 4 banger thing, v8's dont typically do it and most shops deal with mostly v8's. At least around here.

Thanks, resonator is definately going on then.
Not needed! I just got a brand new exhaust with a straight pipe and magnaflow muffler. My exhaust sounds awesome, not raspy and deep in high RPM. Resonator is a waste IMO.

I've got a Pacesetter header, Magnaflow cat and Dynomax Super Turbo. It's not enough to have me running back to my exhaust shop but I'm definitely going to put a resonator on whenever I slow down...
Exhaust sounds exactly like I want it too with the resonator, nothing that a retard would call "ricey" but anyone who likes cars notices the modification.
Now this is second thing which I am going to need with the resonator so can anyone tell me its price too.

Between 20 bucks and 200 bucks depending on size, brand, and quality.
