engine swaps different years

Would there be any fitment/compatibility/computer issues with swapping a 2.4L LD9 from a 96 and putting it into a 2000 Z24? Both automatics.

Use all sensors, header, and intake manifold, from 00 motor on the 96 motor. Also, knock sensors are different. Use the 00 fuel rail and injectors as well. The engine will otherwise bolt right in. Also 00 engines do not have EGR.

Did you ever get your 96 running?

No. I pretty much decided I'd just buy another cavy and swap my built engine in, along with the interior and body kit. Kind of a fresh start. Are the injectors diff on the 00 from the 96 as far as independence? I ask since the 96 engine I'd be using already has aftermarket injectors.

00 has high independence injectors, not sure if they can be swapped or not, might be able to with HPT or something but not sure....

Yes injectors are different from 96 to 00. Injectors harness is also different.

Knock sensor's and knock sensor holes are different. You can get adapters to run the 00 knock sensor in the 96 block. Or drill a new hole and tap it.

Whats a good source and/or part number for some high independence injectors that fit the 00 in the 45-60lb range?

Wouldn't you need something like 75lb-80lb injectors or larger if you wanted enough fuel for 400whp at stock fuel pressure?

If your going to buy new ones.

To add. Most High HP people are running...Injector Dynamics 1000cc "95lb" High Imp Injectors.

I know the knock sensors are diff between a 96 and a 00, but are the plugs the same and if so, could the 96 just stay in and plug into the 00 harness without compatibility issues?

John, any idea where to get the knock sensor adapter?

Mike, you're right, around 80lb would be a better fit.

Knock is a pain in the ass...

to put a 96 sensor in an 00 block, you have to drill the hole bigger and tap it...

to put a 00 sensor in a 96 block, you need to install a helicoil.

--- i'd take the motor, PCM, and wiring from the 00, as well as the stock 00 injectors that are in the motor... if you need bigger injectors, go LSJ and have the injector constant corrected immediately before first fire.

Got everything swapped over it's all good to go, but I did notice one thing...
There's a sensor on the oil pan of the 96.. I believe oil level sensor... On the 00 there wasn't one and therefore no plug for it... Did GM do away with that sensor?
