L61, 76lb valvesprings break new timing chain?

I noticed that after installing some 76lb Supertech springs that the timing chain seemed to have more tension that with stocks valve springs, which made complete sense, so i installed a new timing chain to give a lil insurance from a break. So, 1,300 miles into a rebuilt engine i have a broken timing chain, and tomorrow I'm going to pull the head and see if there is collateral damage with valves or anything else lower in the front engine cover. Has anyone else had, or even heard of a problem like this before? I have a 2004 L61, gmpp head, supertech 76lb valve springs, compcams turbo cams, and multiple other parts, but those are the ones that would have an effect on the chain that broke. Good thing i have a full set of supertech single-groove valves i can install if any are bent, bad thing is i was never sent the keepers for the valves, thmotorsports sucks.

Never heard of that happening. It's possible you could have had a tensioner, or lubrication failure that caused your problem. Maybe even a bad chain???

I've got the Supertech setup in my car too, almost 6,000 miles and no problems.

Maybe put stuff together wrong in the head an had a binding issue?

I hate to say it but it would take a lot to break a brand new timing chain. I wonder if there was something loose that got bound between the gear and chain? Post pictures of the valve train if you can.

i think it would take alot to break a used chain, so I agree. Someting was not right about this setup. Being so few miles, has to be a install, or faulty part issue.

I'm thinking it was a faulty chain, or the timing chain oiler got clogged with metal shaving from the break-in process. If it was installation error i wouldn't know. i torqued every single bolt exactly as the printout i got from gm said. well, $300 in parts later i'll see if it happens again.
