Basic non-synthetic 5w-30 oil, and a pint of Lucas break in oil additive. It has zinc which helps cushion lifters and rockers. I actually use it every oil change.

Currently #4 in Ecotec Forced Induction horsepower ratings. 505.8 WHP 414WTQ!!!
Currently 3rd quickest Ecotec on the .org - 10.949 @ 131.50 MPH!!!

Right there. Used that for the first 500 miles and changed the oil, then used it again for the next 1500 miles and changed oil again. After 2000 break in miles, I swtiched to full synthetic.

I used Eneos 5-30 semi synthetic, only ran it for about 25-30 minutes.

like stated, normal non synthetic oil. i would reccomend GM E.O.S. its a very high in zinc oil additive designed for break in. GM part number: 88862586 you can buy it from GMParts direct or i usually get it from Summit.

you want the ceapes possible proper weight oil + a zinc additive for break in. change it at 500, 1000, 2000, and 3000 mile intervals.don't baby it, but don't beat on it. the rings need to see a good bit of pressure to seat properly, yet the cams don't like a lot of action early in their life.
