What does a stock 2001 z24 run in the 1/4mi. and is it worth buying a header with current mods?

Okay so I want to get aheader that connects directly to the factory piping I was looking at an ebay header so would there be any gain from doing this and what should my car run at the track with header and without header with current mods my mods are as follows 2001 Z24 automatic.ebay CAI, new OEM upper mount, and ttr lower mount. What should I ballpark time with the current mods then what time with header to factory piping and how much power would I gain from adding header with current mods and power total with the cold air and header?

Just want to make sure I gain something from header to factory piping before I throw my money away.

The header/cat is a big bottle neck on many boosted cars but not with most N/A applications. No point in just buying a header man, now if you buy a new header and put together a full exhaust, say 2.5inch then you will gain some more power.

So that would bring me to my next question if I put a header on with an aftermarket exhaust what would be the absolute quietest muffler cause I do not like the mosquito noise these cars make with the coffee cans on them.

Best way to find out is by going to a track... Be ready for high 15s-16s though.

a full exhaust on a basically stock car will not really have that much of an improvement if you had forced induction or a built engine. it will just make the car feel faster as it will be louder

don't make two threads for the same topic

i'd stay far away from ebay headers... unless you plan to buy yearly...

i'd also stay far away from pacesetter...

Its not really about $/HP.... its about $/Quality/longevity

if you want HP, heres my mod list... http://www.j-body.org/members/extremedelusions/cars/3/

Pacesetter is fine as long as you get the coated one, and not the painted one. Alsom header wrap will hurt / kill most headers in no time if there in any moist environment.

Exactly, get the armor/ceramic coated one, not the black painted. Pacesetter is an excelent choice. Also as stated stay away from header wrap, as it will rot the header away (any brand header that is), ceramic coating does the same thing as wrap, just does not rot a header

i stole that pic from davedotorg's picture archive... after running a pacesetter for several years, im happier with my seibenick header...

either way... to do the exhaust properly, you need to go header back... for an N/A build, i suggest header, 2.5" piping, high flow cat (not magnaflow though, those are way overpriced and cook very easily... a quick search can find a link to my cat thread where someone mentioned high flow cats for $40 bucks), and a good flowing muffler, like the Cobalt SS Muffler..

the Cobalt SS muffler is dyno proven to flow identically to the magnaflow without all the noise

Got a part number? And where is the best place to buy one? I plan to run it on my GTZ. I have a magnaflow on it now and I hate the sound.

the best place to buy one is a cobalt forum... you can usually find them there for $50ish all day long

the SS/SC muffler is 2.25 in 2.5 out
the SS/TC muffler is 2.5 in 2.5 out...

I never knew the SS muffler was that good, kind of wish I didn't sell it now, sold it awhile back to a guy with an Cobalt LS. oh well, Im happy with my muffler now, next will be some 2 1/4" pipe and a longer res than that little tiny one on the car now.
