I quit the Audio competition scene and now im looking to build my performance now. Here is the skinny...
I have a 03 Cavalier ls sport, its a bummer that its a automatic trans but it was my wife's car before. hers what ive done so far
2 inch lower springs
Intake with a cone (warm air)
I have a "Tornado" thing that mounts inside my intake tube...supposed to spin the air around for better mpg and added hp...lol probably not
Got a fiberglass hood (functional)
I have a muffler on it now ,with factory header cat and piping
Here's my question... I'm about to buy Header, high flow cat, upgrade pipe to 2.5 and re-install muffler. Here is a cheap header that i wanna buy..... what do you all think??

You seem to already know you're wasting your time because its an automatic. Put it back to stock, sell it and buy something better.

So the autos won't get fast? I know manual is far better, but its a waste modding an auto?
Not a waste at all. I have grown with DC headers...
I would not say autos are a waste to mod, many drag/high performance cars are autos. IMO though, I would say that an auto is more "boring" to drive as a daily driver. I also like to be in control of what gear I am in. I have driven some cars where lets say for example 2nd gear red lines while doing 100km/h, If you are doing 80km.h or so in 3rd or 4th and are going up a mountain and give it full throttle, it will only drop down to 3rd and lug that gear, you have to drop down to like 70km/h or so for it to drop to 2nd. I am making these numbers up but this has happened on my wifes mazda 3 2.0 driving in the mountains. It did okay in the mountains but that cars powerband is mostly up top. There is also times where you are in 2nd gear and give it partial throttle and just want to gently accelerate and it drops to 1st and engine revs up to +5000RPM while driving "normal". In a standard, you pick a gear and it stays in that gear until you want to change it.
You can also look into B&M shift plus, I have never used it so I cant tell you anything about it but I am sure it will make your auto wake up.

2006 Cobalt SS/SC - Intake, 2.5" Exhaust, GMPP Brakes, Solid Mounts, Ported S/C - Sold
1991 GMC Sierra - Lifted on 38.5" Swampers, Too much to list off. For Sale
Rick has it right, I have an auto inceptor to increase line pressure and it is wicked. For mountains or racing put it in gear for the control aspect. If you get nice with HPtuners you can adjust damn near everything on our auto's.
i enjoy my auto alot........just saying
as for the original ? what do you plan to really do for power ? staying N/A, going boost or spray ? that will answer of ?s really
if you plan to stay na i would so go with pacesetter header and like a 2.25 inch exhaust to like a dynamax muffler but if your going boost i would say depending on build plans going 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
Yes I plan N/A... Throttle body spacer is next after I get full exhaust, then Motor mounts. Thought CAI,Exhaust,Thrt body spcr,MM is a dang good start...What's your thoughts?
from the looking i did around, they aren't cheap and people have mixed feelings whether or not they actually work or not. I personally think you will be more satisfied spending your money on motor mounts.
you only need a throttle body spacer if you plan to run Nitrous... otherwise its a waste...
i'd get a decent header, 2.5 piping, and run a cobalt SS Supercharged or SS turbocharged muffler... All the flow and performance of a fart can without the noise...
I'd then get a CAI, mounts, the Auto shift kit.
if you want to spend some money, i'd throw in mild upgraded cams and then get it tuned.
Mystic...can u tell me more about this "shift kit" Do u have a link? Thanks in advance...
Shift kit = auto trans interceptor or B&M shift plus. One or both of them can be replicated for about 5 bucks if you have the know how.
