Going to be doing some exhaust work on the cavy in the next few weeks, plan to add a flexpipe, new exhaust manifold gasket, and seal all of those pesky exhaust leaks. Currently running a Pacesetter coated header, and all aftermarket exhaust. My question is, are there any specific brands for these that are better than others? or are all the gaskets about the same, as well as flexpipes, any better brands or doesn't it matter much? About the only difference I see in them (so far) is the ply of the mesh, would a 2-3 ply make much difference? I'm not very heavily modified now, but have plans for later, looking to boost in the future.
Have prothane inserts... not sure how good of shape they are in, last summer I torqued the exhaust enough to break a pipe, granted it was rusty it shouldn't have put that much force through the exhaust all the way to behind the cat. Also the header collector/downpipe joint is loose as phuck... have to cut the bolts off because I can't get anything on the top side to hold the head of the bolts. In turn causing a major leak that is loud and annoying.. and basically making the rest of my exhaust system useless, for sound quality anyway.
