Ok so my friend owns a car lot I bought my 96 from him and he just got a 03 sedan ls I was wondering if there has been any trouble with 03s and what engine it comes with due to the fact i didn't get to look at it today and probley wont till friday so any input will be greatly appreciated. Ps he only wants 750 for it.
All 2003 and newer came with the Ecotec engine...
My 03 has ~92k miles on it. ~50k of them were at my hand(have never been easy on it) and the last ~15k miles have been boosted with over 200whp/wtq. I havent had any major issues and it keeps taking the abuse.
All 03-05 J-bodies have the 2.2L L61 Ecotec.
its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa
Thanks Kyle my 96 is my first personal j-body and i've never worked on a 03+ cavalier so I don't hold much knowledge of them.
I know its a hell of a good price for her and by what your telling me tinkle they hold there own. Course everyone one i've herd from has loved there ecotecs.
do it, and don't look back...mine has taken 50k of straight abuse from me and it just won't quit.
Well its offical imma pic her up friday
new DD i think so and Kyle your just hattin
but I love the quad 4 appeal it's alot more eye popping than an eco and the next thing you know the sedan will be a project car lol.
Keep the Quad 4 in the 96 and the Eco in the 03
build em both...
Bluecavy i really havent seen that many nice ones I know there beautiful with a polished supercharger and maybe a powder coated head but other than that ive not seen much appeal from them if you have a pic of a beautiful eco I will certainly give you props
ecotec is just plain sex. i love it. starting to pull off my valve cover to sand, clean and powdercoat
and while i am at it going to do battery relocate for future mods. and if i am lucky i will wire tuck for super clean

snd just has a plan sexy sunfire and his engine bay is impressive yes and the head but other than that idk.. i like the ecotecs power but i love the quad 4 appeal thats just a personal prefrence but then again id rather have a eco because there more trustworthy engines.
trustworthy.... ehhhh they each have their issues... a well maintained quad will last just as long as a well maintained eco...
