Any idea if there would be any issues with the belt routed this way? My main concern is the fact that the ribbed part of the belt goes over the smooth surface of the tensioner.

Lack of traction on alternator. Should have more of a wrap. However, many have run their belts like this and supposedly wear is not increased much. Personally, I'll be using the compressor replacement bypass pulley.

@turboalero
It will work fine that way, but most people were using a stock sized crank pulley.
Not sure if you will have any extra slippage.

lmao we all cant be lucky like me and find the pulley in the junkyard for a 5 dollar bill
and i agree, dave... space is awesome.
Lol Brad!
Scott, removing it made room for my oil cooler lines going to the sandwhich plate from the cooler on the passenger side front. Funny story, 2 years ago just driving the car around my neighborhood the belt cut the hose on me, got back home and oil was everywhere! Luckily I didnt go far. I didn't want to risk it again, so I got rid of the damn pulley lol.

I started running it like that years ago........ I believe a few people thought I was nuts, and swore by the Mantapart A/C delete pulley (over priced stock GM part..... who knew A/C in Canada was optional?)
I ran it like that with the UR pulley/HO pulley, and a 4 rib belt (couldnt find a 5 rib one at the time.....) No charging issues.

I would rather just use the ac bypass pulley, people usually let them go for cheap to nothing. Hell, even mine was free. Eric [ 97cavie24ls(™) ] tossed mine in for nothing because i bought so much other @!#$ from him lol
Just post up in the classified for one or see if one of our brothers to the north will do a junkyard run for you.
