Dont buy that cat. Get the thunderbolt one, the magnaflow will blow out/rust out quick and its way overpriced. And you wont be using most of that piping too with the pacesetter header.

Any suggestions as to where to look for the Thunderbolt cat?
And is it a universal or vehicle specific type?
universal, so you'll need a 2.5" flex pipe made up to go from the 2.5" collector of your header to your 2.5" catback.

Well, this is a spring planned project, so I have time to shop around yet.
I appreciate the input.
the magnaflow muffler is going to make your car sound like a rice rocket.
get a Cobalt SS Supercharged or Turbocharged muffler, Its been dyno proven to flow the same as a magnaflow without the noise
i beg to differ, my magnaflow sounded really good, deep, very little rasp, it sounds like a rice rocket now with the header and no cat and no resonator , but thats changing over the winter
Yea, that's what I thought the resonator is for, to mellow the tone.
That's why I planned on going with the 18 in. versus the 14.
maybe 26 inch?

My 2.5 inch exhaust with magnaflow muffler (see registry) kicks butt. Sounds great and I never need my cat or a resonator. Header to muffler!

I also still have the stock exhaust piping, which would be most ot the reaason why mine sounds ricey
Is everything only half done with your car?^^
I got a header to a 30 inch magnaflow res, 2 1/2 piping to my magnaflow. Sounds decent for an OHV.
I have used about 5 setups on my cars and if you don't want to sound like a car from the Fast and the Furious, use Walker's Quietflow. Lower your windows and all you hear is the mechanical tone from the engine spitted out the back. No drone, no bassy boom. Raise the windows and it is exactly like what came out from the factory in interior quietness, I kid you not. I just put in a Camaro version and replaced my old dual Quietflow mufflers.
I have the Magnaflow cat, and it works as it should, just replace it with a round one over the oval one for better clearance. Resonator; I have now a Thrush SS unit and it works better than the larger Magnaflow I had before. The Magnaflow resonator sounded good, but the little drone used to sip in the cabin. The Thrush SS--factory quiet.
I have now RKS header, magnaflow cat, all 2.25 SS piping, Thrush resonator, 1 Quietflow muffler. End result... oddly at idle it sounds like an American V8, and from in the cabin- when accelerating sounds like a Subaru H-4. People have told me it sounds like a V8 from the outside accelerating.
Just passing my expiriances.

i have the pacesetter header and a magnaflow cat-back with no resonator. I love the sound of it, and so do my friends. It doesn't sound ricey or raspy. Its not loud at all except for when i really put the pedal down and want it to be, but even then it has a deep sound.
Thanks for all the input on this so far folks.
As I said earlier, it's a spring project, so I'll be taking all the suggestions into consideration.
