So I'm sitting at my desk at work going over the last few little parts needed for my build. For some reason Spencer's vert popped in my head and I started thinking about his HO water outlet.
I change the plastic ones like every other year, no big deal.
I really hate the metal line that runs along the back of the exhaust cam tower and would rather it be braided SS hose.
I know I can tap the plastic housing and get a -4an adapter and thread it in but would rather have an aluminum one.
I know the 2.3s had the aluminum version that used a paper gasket for sealing rather than the oring.
Has anyone actually used that housing on a 2.4 head? I don't see why there would be an issue but would rather check with the masses to see if its been done.
Ion2 made a custom aluminum one that looks great, but I cant get one made for less than the $28 the auto part stores want for the HO one.

This has been gone over just recently on here. People are using the 2.3 ones, but I do not understand how you people are having issues with the stock one. All the 2.4's I have owned or worked on never seen one fail.

Oh they break, trust me. I had to do a middle of the night run to autozone while my car was stuck in a crackerbarrel parking lot after the water outlet split in half while driving.
I wish i still had pics of it, literally cracked in half.
I havent had a problem with one since then, but i think i would rather have an aluminum one as well

I did a whole forum search and didn't find any mention if someone running a 2.3 outlet on a 2.4.

lol the search works great... you just gotta be smarter than it.
So I finally received my 2.3 water neck the other day. I ordered it for a 93 GA HO. This is what I got and it doesn't look like it will work.

From the looks of it, it could be made to work with a tap, a plug, and a drill.
Thats kind of what I was thinking. Tap and plug the small hole and drill a passage between the large and small hole. There should be enough meat left around the hole to bore it out for a 3/8 npt flush plug.

Quad4 thermostat housings are a strange looking piece.....
I will be picking up some flush plugs tomorrow and will try this after work.
