fuel pump question
Saturday, September 24, 2011 7:00 PM
Ok so I was looking at the racetronix fuel pump upgrade but started doing some looking around and was wondering what the difference would be in just getting the walbro 255lp for the ls1 with their rewire kit. It's over half the price and looks identical to the racetronix one. Can anyone chime and let me know if it will work.

Racetronix sets up the Walbro to work with ventrui (sp?) systems. We have that.

Walbro does not have one with the ventrui one.

But doesn't the 99 camaro with the ls1 have the ventrui system to and that's why the pumps for that application?

racetronix LS1 or W body pump is the same pump both have venturi and both are walbro 255 pumps not sure if raetronix mods it for the venturi but thats the deal with it

Like said, Racetronix pump comes modified for the venturi setup. Racetronix themselves came on to the site and said get the w-body pump because of that venturi setup.

If you tore apart a racetronix and put it next to a walbro 255, they are both walbro 255 pumps. Racetronix just adds the venturi stuff to the regular walbro 255...

we need the venturi setup so that fuel cut does not occur. Id say mine took probably an hour to do. The longest part was getting the tank itself down. Its SUPER simple to do, along with the harness. Ill have to drop my tank again eventually so I can swap a fitting on the top of the tank.

This is the thing I found and I'm thinking about trying it and getting their rewire. It's half the price of the racetronix one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LS1-Camaro-Z28-SS-255LPH-Drop-In-Fuel-Pump-99-02-?cmd=ViewItem&item=380337931451

spend the 50 dollars extra on the racetronix and have the tried and true method instead of guessing and doing it twice.

keep us posted on that... Hopefully it works because it will be a cheaper alternative for us who need a fuel pump upgrade for SC application
