Bong removal
Thursday, February 05, 2009 11:48 AM
The other day I replaced my tranny mounts and I thought: I want to remove "the bong" and put something different there to improve on the existing induction, so I have an idea and I have the product for it, if it works I'll pass it along to you guys.

Now my question to you guys... upon removing the bong from the car, how do I separate the washer reservoir from the bong with out damaging the reservoir? There is a bolt on the bottom, but I notice it just spins freely and I can't seem to separate it, thinking it will crack. And I notice it is REALLY attached together too.

Any technique in separating it?

needle nose vise grips on the clip that is spinning with the bolt.

honestly, i dont remember... its been a while. i dont thnk it was attached by a bolt at all.

as for what your trying to do, ive though of similar things, but never went though with any of them. theres a ducting like stuff you can buy that spectre performace makes that i was debating on using, but the whole in the fender is only like 2.5" or 2.75" and the ducting was 3"... just didnt feel like cutting.

So cut or crow bar it off? What about that bolt on the bottom?

for anyone searching this with a sunfire, pull the driver side headlight off (two bolts) and you can get at it to twist it around a bit to break off where it bolts on.

i got mine out by removing 2 10mm bolts and prying it apart from the washer reservoir.

On both my cars, I pried the bong part of the resorvoir until it fell out, Just be careful not to break your washer bottle.
