I was wondering if i could take a 2.3 High Output intake on my 2.4 quad4 easily without having to use different wires and plugs for the sensors and get better performance out of it.

well, it has been proven that the HO intake on a relatively stock 2.4 does actually lose power. the cams in these engines are just puny so when you put a big breathen bohema like the HO on its like having a sewer pipe drain into a garden hose.
now, you do a bit of head work and throw HO cams into the equation then it becomes something that actually does help.
so, not saying you dont have a lot done to you're engine because i have no idea if you do or do not just assuming you do not, thats all.
i personally believe the stock manifold is a good peice. it provides pretty good torque output, is lightweight, and heat soaks a whole hell of a lot less than the HO manifold does. porting this is a good option on a stock engine.
its either that or go ahead and use a low output 2.3 manifold. its a big smaller than the HO and better suited for the LD9 in the more stock form.

ok thanks bro, i have herd of someone putting a 2.3 head on a 2.4 also that doesn't actually work does it?

I know your all pro 2.4 head but the 2.3 head gives so much more compression over stock some kind of power has to be made. Granted through your experiences bigger valves can hurt torque and the bigger ports reduce velocity I think the head has its place in the 2.4 word. The truth is we don't have reliable dyno proof.

First part, yes.
Second part.....ummmmm

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
If you just bolt the intake on (a few mounting holes have to be slotted first) you will have a small "wall" as the air enters the head. I am sure this will hurt performance. Also as Brad mentioned, heat soak can be an issue. Not sure how much of a difference this makes in daily driving, but Im sure that it will hurt at a track.
On a mostly stock 2.4L (pardon the condition of the car, it is a "total loss")
ahhh ... Skilz's blue....

You're starting to sound like Mr. Miller.
I have no signiture

Haha when you do dont be all secretive about it
-Z Yaaaa- wrote:lol cory, you know me... when am i ever secretive? i tell everybody i can every last detail til im am blue in the face and they want me dead.
Haha true with you it'll be more like you tell everyone with proof and they will want proof of proof of your proof, then still not listen.

CRAP! I need to go strip the 086 head off the LD9 block in my garage then!

I dont know about you sometimes Brad.

LOL its true though, man.. it has never been proven on an LD9 to do anything at all in terms of performance. i mean sure, on paper and in equations etc the thing theorhetically should do quite well, absolutely. but til someone flat out PROVES that the 086 head is worth doing i dont think it should be viewed as an end all, be all, IMO.
if you look at brandon's build.. he has said recently that his LD9 is not even that opened up and he still made 551whp with it. then you look at chris turboquad4's build that had larger cams, much larger in-fact, titanium rods, forged crank, engine coatings, AND the 086 head and his setup made 556whp. now i get that its comparing apples to oranges as they dynoed on different dynos, different times, different EVERYTHING but it's not a bad comparison, really. pretty sure chris even had a standalone for tuning...
and i see nothing wrong with my statement, they do crack.
