can you put a 2.4 in a 98 cavy that had a 2.2 in it witghout changing alot of stuff?
depends on how much stuff we are talking...
you need motor + accessories , trans, pcm, wiring. You'll probably need to swap mounts as well (especially if you want the 2000+ manual transmission)... if you plan to swap in a 2000 + 2.4 with 2000+ PCM, you'll need to rewire virtually the whole car...
easiest would be to try to get a 1996-1998 2.4. A 1997-1998 wiring harness and pcm. If you have a automatic trans, stick with it... but you will need the 2.4 trans. If you have a manual transmission... stick with it, but you will need the 2.4 trans. Just so you don't have to be cutting and welding mounts. You will have to swap throttle cables... and maybe even the cruise cable... if you have cruise. You will of course need all the accessories like alternator, power steering pump, and compressor. All the coolant hoses and heater hoses. You will also need the exhaust header and down pipe. 1996-1998 2.4 intake as well. The upper motor mount as well. You should be able to reuse all the other mounts and torque strut from the old 2.2.
i got almost everything you need to rebuild a 2.4 becauese thats all we had before..and well the motor mount stuff is all i would have the most problem with...and ill make it all the same year and it is 5 speed
