Oil cooler adapter plate... where can i get one?
Friday, December 28, 2007 8:46 PM
I looked and all i could find was Oil cooler kits... i just need the adapter as i am using a Performance 3 core rad that are normally for the 1987 Buick GNX, as they come with a built in oil cooler.. and i figured if it works for my dads gnx with the now 4.1L (stock 3.8L) turbo V6 making 700hp.. im sure it could help out with my 2.4L

Any one know what thread we have for our oil filters? or know where i can just get an oil filter adapter?

here is a pic of the rad im talking about...

Here is the adapter i would use if i could find out the thread of our oil filters

just would need this peice with a different thread...

here ya go...heres the adaptor you need...the one for the quad4s use the older lt1 adaptors..the 2.4 use the new ones...heres the part you need http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hayden-Oil-Cooler-Thermo-Adapter-Corvette-LT1-13-16_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118QQcategoryZ46095QQihZ012QQitemZ220134707278QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZW D1V

all you have to do is check oil filter numbers...the 2.4 twin cam uses a pf46 or pf61 acdelco filter (same threads but ones longer)...the pf46 is the stock filter...which is also part number PH3506 for FRAM ...so any car that has an oil cooler adaptor and uses one of THOSE oil filters has the part you need.. happy new year !

the newer ones as in the new LT1? ... cuz that link is all wrong .. the 97-06 vettes every thing from the LS1 engine to the LS6 engine...

the LT1 used the pf52 filter..which fit our quads...the new LS engines..iirc.. use the 61/46 filter...despite what they call the engine the part number for the filter is correct!..so the link is not ALL wrong

Here is what you need.
This is the PermaCool sandwich adaptor I'm using for my Behr oil cooler I got off of a Mercedes Benz.

The PermaCool part number is PRM-185 and can be found here.
This is where I got mine and have been happy with it.

Hope this helps.

Ah, big deal... I remember when guys would run Motorcraft plugs in their SBC's just beause they were "supposedly" better.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

And what may be wrong with the FL-1A filter??
I used this filter for years on my Ford and got 335,000 miles out of that engine.

Anyway, Josh, did you ever get that adaptor you were looking for?
Btw, the threading for the 2.4 ld9 engine is 13/16 if that helps.
Good luck.

I know I'm bringing up an old thread but I'd hate to start a new one.

I'm wondering if this sandwich adapter will fit on an LD9 http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/51710/10002/-1 it has the same size o-ring 2-3/4 and the same I.D (inner diameter) 13/16"-16 Thd as the oil filter. Just looking for some added info and to see if the info I have is correct before I go buying one of these. Thanks.
