Compression test the cylinders they should be 180- 200ish PSI. Ignition coils are a REAL problem with these motors since they can get hot because they sit inside the cam towers. Check engine light on? Fuel pump come on when you turn key on? How many miles on her... I would really start with how this motors been treated for its oil changes keepin it to par and keeping it full since the bad oiling system. The oil pump cant keep up with rpms after 5800 and if its a auto tranny it shifts at 6000 in drive so if its a manual I can see a problem with spun bearings like ZYAAA said because they can shift to 6500, BUT the auto CAN if you use 1st and shift to 2nd on shifter. It could have been overheated due to the crappy water pumps that take about 8 GM flat rate hours to swap

When you say it "turns over really hard," what do you mean? It's not spinning as fast as it should? Slowly rotating or is it like pulsing with speed... like it goes and then it doesn't... then it goes... like it's encountering some severe resistance every time the pistons reach the top of the cylinder and peak compression?

Starter could be weak, battery could be weak. My car's crankshaft still spins like crazy even if my fuel pump and ignition system are disabled..

And what happened before this happened? Why don't you tell us any history of what occurred immediately before it wouldn't start? Anything you noticed different, any part you changed.. no information = no answers.
