I have a l61 motor. I have removed the plastic tube in between the two intake plenums. You know the "S" shaped tubing. I fit the " after market " intake filter right after the two air sensors keeping them intact.
Will the mass-air-flow sensor adapt to the difference or do I need to tune the ECU?
Someone with experience please help.
Is there a specific short-ram intake set-up made specifically for this motor and the stock ECU??

So unless there is an exsisting problem with the motor, I can slap a aftermarket cone air filter pretty much anywhere on this bitch and it will self adjust everything to run normal?
you can put whatever intake you want on the engine, as long as the IAT is measuring the correct temperature, and the MAP sensor is correctly reading manifold pressure/vaccum, and the TPS is working correctly (correlating with the the MAP), You'll never have a runability issue... you may however lose HP if you don't have the supporting mods for the intake.
The IAT runs in to the intake tube, however will function outside of the tube, but its not sending accurate temps back to the PCM. the MAP runs off the Intake Manifold, and the TPS is on the side of the throttle body.
Ok, So you know that tube that goes from the cam cover to the stock intake box. Well mine broke. I am now using a small cone type filter thing that fits perfectly on the cam cover metal tube sticking out and I taped the hole on the plastic intake box. I then put a cone air filter right where the S shape tube was.
Now I have noticed some harshness when revving around 1,500 to 1,860 rpms. then it goes away. This was both before and after the alterations? What could that be?

Yes, I was thinking spark plugs. I have already replaced one plug boot because the spring was all GUNKED up when I checked it. I am just in the process of finding a lug to get the spark plugs out.
Is it 5/8 Size?

mmmmmm......... #263 loctite. oxy/acet + 3' breaker and a day's effort. you might get it loose.
