Im going to be putting the Mad mab header on my car. It bolts up to the oem downpipe. But since our oem downpipe is quite small I was wondering if the aftermarket LSJ downpipes will fit our cars?
Woops Bad mab header..
Good to hear they fit. I was always under the impression they didnt fit due to us having to get a downpipe made for the pacesetter?
Chris, sorry to beat this horse to death for ya, but I've been curious about this myself.
So I could order this ZZP downpipe....
ZZP 2.5 stainless D/P
and it would bolt up to the stock L61 manifold and fit under the car?
Just making sure, that's a great piece, but a version built for the cavalier can be had here....
mandrelexhaustsystems.com 2.5 stainless D/P
and they claim it fits and has all stock 02 bungs, etc;
Not debating which is better or what not, just need to know if the ZZP is an option for direct bolt in, the MES D/P price is only $20 higher but I would pay more for the MES downpipe if it fit better.
Thanks man, I really do appreciate the help as does Philly D I'm sure.
The lsj downpipe will NOT fit a J without SERIOUS modification, I just went through this 2 months ago. MES sells a J downpipe that I wish I knew of during the time. I got an LSJ DP from CSS.net and it was no where close to fitting..
to elaborate.. serious modification being cutting it and rewelding it several times, you're easiest solution is the MES one.
Well I hope thats not the case cause I just bought one....
Phil- Was it a stock LSJ downpipe you tried to fit or aftermarket? Either way I believe ya bud, just wondering.
MES downpipe for me.
it was the zzp 2.5" SS one. We ended up cutting off just the triangle flange and making our own dp. Getting it into our tunnel is easy, the problem is it sticks straight down to the ground when connected, AND hits the firewall, so you compensate by bending it away from the firewall and it just makes it worse at the other part. You ca buy one, but plan to cut and re-weld it several times to maybe get it to fit, easier solution is MES
Does the MES downpipe actually fit though....
Ive been reading the fitment of their stuff is pretty crappy. It does look like a better option if it does indeed fit.
Or is there at the very least a fitment guarantee?
i have not heard of this problem before.

I used a ZZP Downpipe, when I asked zzp they said they were not 100% sure it would fit, so I took a chance and wasted 115$ bucks.
