I have a 2002 2.2 Ecotech Cavalier and Ive done quite a bit of searching on the forums and other websites, but have not found where to install the water temp sender for an aftermarket temp gauge on the ecotechs. I know you dont want to T it off when your trying to get water temp, is there another way to drill and tap somewhere to get an accurate reading?
Will your gauge real a GM sensor?
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
its an mechanical gauge, i need to keep the factory sensor hooked up also.
Guess you'll have to drill and tap the head. Have fun.
If it would read a GM sensor, I was gonna suggest using the GM 3 wire sensor and wiring that in. But, sounds like that's not an option.

i would just drill and tap the coolant tube that connects the water pump and thermostat housing. ive never wanted to have a second aftermarket gague for coolant temp, but if i did, i would probably put it there. piece is easy to pull out, and easy to replace if you decide u dont need the gauge anymore. thats my idea, someone will prolly say its a bad idea, but at least its an idea! good luck
Pretty thin metal there, could weld a boss on it though.. good idea.
greddy makes a tube with a fitting and all you do is cut a section out of the stock tube and place it there. easy option there
Yep good call forgot about that piece

no worries on mess ups and if you decide to lose the gage just find a new hose. a smart idea for greddy I think
