ok guys i now have a tick that alot are calling a bad timing chain tensioner. how do i replace this and what is the gm part number that im gonna need, and go easy im a noob with this tuner stuff, im a muscle head. also should i replace the whole chain or just the tensioner,,,,,i also did a search on here fisrt and really found nothing thank you
Replace the entire timing chain set. Most aftermarket ones have a larger diameter oil squirter to prevent oil starvation which stretches and breaks the chain. Also, if it is making noise, the guides are probably almost shot anyways.

i diassembled the top end last night and didnt like what i found, i found that the guide bolt inside the head holding one of the chain guide on was broken in half, the chain seemed to be really tight though, but i think im gonna replace the tensioner with the upgraded one just to be on the safe side, and unfortunatly i cant afford to replace the whole timing set, so im gonna replace that one right side guide and that bolt and the tensioner.
