The bracket on my crappy short ram I bought off Ebay two years ago finally broke. So I decided that It's time for a new intake, and I also decided to remove that black airbox it was attached to and get an intake that hooks right into the throttle body. "No big deal!" I said to myself as I hopped on my computer. Go to ebay, typed "Cavalier 2.4 intake" and awaited my accepted $50 results. But... To my dismay, all of the intakes that do just that, are $349.99. Have a look for yourself:

These BCP (Best Car Parts) intakes used to be a dime a dozen on ebay, and cost no more than $50-$60, now all of a sudden they've quintupled in price.. Why?? I also checked amazon, luckily they have a few left in stock
Here. And by a few, I mean 3. I'm looking for an intake that doesn't use the cheap flimsy bracket that attaches to the bolt at the base of the battery housing. Instead, I'd like the bracket that mounts to the power steering pump. I like that design way better. Problem is, that intake no longer exists for cheap on ebay, and I've sent emails to the vendors on amazon to verify that the item pictures actually match what the intakes look like in person, before I buy another crappy flimsy one.
Can anyone explain this? Does anyone know where I can find an intake for a 2.4 Cavalier, that connects directly into the throttle body, and mounts around the power steering pump? I'm at a bit of a loss here..
I got an AEM short ram intake for the 2.4, its in used condition, though nothing broken, no dents, its polish, but light scratches. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you pics.
chrome air intakes usually do, brakets suck but for the price it cant be beat, should get in touch with the comp see if they can just send you a new bracket

Yeah the vendor I purchased my intake from 2 years ago is long gone :/ It's time for a new one regardless, my intake has seen better days. That chrome and red one your sent me (your first link). Does that hook into that crappy black expansion chamber I just removed from my car? Or does it hook into the throttle body?
That bracket is the same design as a AEM. I cut my bracket off my AEM because I did not want to use it.

Interesting, what did you use to mount the intake instead? I'm guessing that pipe isn't too stable or sturdy only being mounted to the throttle body and nothing else. The cone filter is actually quite hefty.
Mine has no brackets. Been fine for 4+ years
I cut my bracket off as well. I'll probably cut it off my other one also.

mine is actually pretty stable and it attaches to the throttle body, i broke my braket a couple of months ago, and just contacted the seller and they shipped me another braket for four bucks, so all in all im happy with the product and customer service, and you can ask them what color coupling you want they have red, blue, and black

I had the same problem as you 3-4 months ago. I ended up just picking up a used one here on JBO.
goto andysautosport.com and order the option/darkforce intake, they have like 3 colors on there and polished, they are like 80 bucks, and honestly If the bracket busted on mine I would get a new one too, I don't like exra vibration noise and I don't like @!#$ bouncing off other @!#$ lol
honestly I didn't even know they even made a little baby intake that desn't go straight from the TB
whoda thunked it
I do not have mine mounted to anything no real need really.

You could put together one of those Spectre modular kits.

all intakes you say?
Haha yeah, idk why it wasn't turning up in my searches. I finally wound up typing in Grand Am and basically brought up the same thing, just a different title. Same vendor, same everything. Just got it in the mail today, I tossed that filter away though. Absolute garbage, kept my AEM DryFlow:
You have a vlaid point though sir, been looking for an intake for my DD 3100 v6 corsica. And the only ones that look to fit right are $300 or more.... for cheap ebay intakes, bleh....

No it does'nt, quit spewing BS... it does not add 2psi of pressure...on an off day for a stock air intake system (meaning clogged filter) you may see at most 0.5-1 psi of pressure drop across the filter, a clean filter nets hardly any loss... so no it will not increase flow that much and certainly will not raise intake pressure.

A cheap one is like 20 bux I got one for my 3800-same intake basically

If you need the short ram deal-sorry if yours is a different setup, but I'm thinking this design is used for all the 3--- series motors 90's style. at least I know for sure the 3800lumina and the 3300 olds you can use the same ones, just have to rip the old stuff out, I think you may have a little RAM piece that gets air from right nxt to or behind the driver light-maybe. Anyway maybe this will help
I still need to actually look in the engine bay on the Corsica, I bought it form my dad, and its at his shop ATM with no plates or insurance... and its 30 miles from my house. Once I do I'll know what I can or can't use, thanks for the info!
umm alex...it's simple science dude... the dual velocity tubes absolutly DO raise velocity-which directly affects air pressure-- and increase air flow...if you search around you can prob find the product test video-- a flow test measuring velocity, pressure, and volume--can't argue with a proven test result haha. i remember seeing this once and it was pretty neat there was a gain over the "standard" intake pipe everyone uses, i cannot remember any specifics, but i remember something about the 30's and something about 50's...flow difference maybe idk for sure..i'll look around and put up a link if I find it..now..are the numbers accurate that I just tried to remember since I looked at them last?...maybe, but goto weapon's website and look at their tests, now is it going to do anything worth the 100 dollar difference? umm maybe, but I doubt it, would it be something neat that I see on noone elses car..hell yeah....and that's what's up
scorpio- I got a little $20 aluminum intake off ebay for both my luminas- 3800 and as far as results...yes runs much better, and had the IAT port too, where it put my filter is all open underneath and cool air is sourced from there, on the other I kept the bottom of the box and the RAM style piece the factory had in there...they are the same as far as "from the driver seat" goes.
