Hi All, I briefly looked through the threads and didn't see anything. I was just wondering if anyone has put the Ram-Air air box from the Grand-AM GT 3400 into a sunfire with a 2200? I know there are other alternatives to a ram air setup but im just curious if this has been done.
hmm i don't know, but i'm going to be doing this to a friends 95, but his is a z24, everything seems pretty straight forward though, line that collector up on rad support and get some plumbing to it. Should work fine, im going to use the flexable plastic stuff first to get it all in and setup...then switch over to inercooler pipes to make the final deal, i just don't know if i'm going to use 2.5" or 3" maybe just 2.75 haha
Thanks for the info. I'm presently running pipe off the throttle body with an open filter but I like the design of the grand am ram air
why its stupid and not gonna see any gains

I thought about doing something like that but decided the loss in throttle response wasn't worth it. With a 2200, you need all the throttle response you can get.

you will see fresh, cool air. and at speed you should see pressue increase as well...plus it would just be cool if pulled off the right way. something different
but for the sake of arguement....why wouldn't it be beneficial, I mean all performance oriented cars have some kind of RAM to the intake...i.e old car=trans am....new car=lancer evo. hehe had to...
I used a weapon r dragon ram air intake in my car before. It came with a hose that I ran behind my battery and up behind the plastic inserts (nose) of my car. It was a grand am se. But it workedjust fine. It did lower my ait temps while driving more so then my wai does. Just something to think about..
mover your batt to the trunk and run the intake right behinde the headlight and then you can do what all the rig pig racers do and remove the headlight for "ram air" lol

The GA ram air sucks IMO, most people I know with GA's either have switched to a short ram intake/ full intake to the bumper, OR they have the stock intake and WANT to switch to the aftermarket intakes. But then again its feeding a 3.4 vs a 2.2, you might get more airflow than a stock intake with the pontiac ram air, then again, you can probably get the same airflow with a aftermarket intake that is direct fit and no BS.
Just get a WAI or CAI with a decent filter and call it a day. It's not worth rigging up a ram air setup that'll just look horrible
