AN Radiator hosing...

Ive really been thinking of taking the car in a new direction lately.

One thing on my mind is switching to a full aluminum radiator and running an radiator hoses.

I know there are a few people who have done it but there isn't any info on here that I could find.

I believe Brandon Fetter was running -16an according to his classified post. It was recommended to me by my local speed shop where I would get the parts to run -20 and not -16. He went on the "bigger is better" notion. I don't think its a sales thing as there is really only a $30-40 difference between the 2 sizes.

The LD9 stock hose ID is 1.31". -16 an is 15/16" and -20 is 1 3/16". The stock size makes me lean toward the -20an but still uncertain.

The pressure bottle on the passenger fender will be removed and a remote overflow will be added.

Heater hoses will also be ran an line as well.

The car is staying a street car with some racing but I do not plan to build a track only car. I plan to add a little show to the go so the bay will be cleaned up and made to look better. I just don't want to drop a bunch of money in the motor and still have it stock appearing under the hood.

Thoughts? Comments?

My $.02-

If you're only doing it for looks, use a fake braided hose kit. To me, AN is useful for stuff you plan on connecting/disconnecting repeatedly, but I wouldn't spend the kind of money needed for big AN fittings just to have them.

If you still want to use them, I think you'd be fine with the -16 unless you've got some sort of high GPM water pump or something and you need the extra flow. Most of the street V8s I've seen run -16.

I would say for the price, buy Fetter's... all the lines, the remote tank, the rad itself... lots of money there and its all -an like you want.

Too bad the electric pump and wwp block off plate aren't included in what he's selling. If I do go this route an electric wp may be included as well.
