Doesn't want to start the starter felt weak. So I got the starter and alt and battery tested. They all passed. The gauges don't work besides the speed when the cars moving. But when its sitting still all is good. Also every light in the dashboard is on. Won't go away unless I let it sit started for a while. Anyone have an idea?
need more info....what did you build a stereo box? a back seat? give info on what you have done, and what kinda car/motor/tuning equipment.
My bad. I rebuilt the motor. Wiseco 9:1's 20over, eagle rods. New bearings and gaskets all around. 2.4 ld9 motor. 96 cavalier. No tune.
sounds like you have a bad ground from the battery to the frame, i had the same problem and just cleaned the contact points and added one from the motor to frame rail
Do we have a ground from the motor to the frame?
It's actually from the transmission to the negative terminal on the battery, the main frame ground is the tab that sticks out on the cable and bollts to the battery box.
Currently #4 in Ecotec Forced Induction horsepower ratings. 505.8 WHP 414WTQ!!!

So its that ridiculously corroded short cable that's atatched to the plate on the bottom of the battery tray?
Yes....it goes from the battery to tray to trans..
Fixed. I ran 4awg cable from the negative top post terminal to the stud on the block under the intake. Same place the starter is grounded. Then i grounded the chasis with another 4awg cable.
