I tried searching but to no avail.. I just installed a brand new cometic hg (74k thickness) now, everything lines up perfectly. Not off on timing etc. But the chain is too tight to install the timing chain tensioner/shoe. The head got decked but my machinist only took off 5 thousandths even though i asked him to take off 20 to help compensate for the hg thickness. Is there anything I can do that doesn't involve taking the head back off? The only thing I can think of is ordering another new hg but get the stock thickness. Thanks for any replies.
are your tensioners locked back? or are they in the set position?
You're doing it wrong. There's a technique to putting the chain on. It will definitely fit.
Sometimes it takes me 30 seconds to get the chain on, other times 5-10 minutes. Depends on how you approach it.

yes tensioners locked back the problem is that the chain is to tight and there is no slack in the chain anywhere its like the chain is to short now
Check the chain length vs your old one if your thinking its short.
I used the cosmetic either .085 or .090, whatever was their thickest, on my build and had no issue. Maybe the chain is a defect or something.
Did u shave anything off your block or head
it says right in the original post that he did, wtf lol

there's gotta be another issue...tensioner or chain defect? did you get a new chain or is this the same one that was on it before? If it is a new one, compair the two, and see if you can get the old one on...maybe it's the wrong chain in general?
