M45/OS crank/2.4 snout. It's nice to be injected but I love being blown!
I just noticed on the instructions, step #9, they say to mill the gear flat so that the LSD has more surface to engage.
Was this needed with the TG install?
If so, I need to redo it this winter.
Thanks
The gear surface the plates press against should be as flat as possible. If your gears have a slight lip or step, they should be machined flat for best results (can be done on a bench grinder). The plates should however fit BETWEEN the side gears w/o any machining, unlike the PG unit (at least in Isuzu applications).
More surface area = more friction = better performance of the Insert.
