Planning out my next engine build and cant find deck height information anywhere. Any body know the deck height and where the piston ends up at TDC in compairison to the top of the blocks deck? Thanks everyone!

That's because due to having a timing chain and OHC one can not really deck the block.
Manufacturers know this. Best to find a PDF of a GM Quad-4 service manual.

GM recommends, per my service manuals, no more than 0.010" of the head and 0.010" off the block. No more than 0.010" total when combined. People have taken 0.020 off the block and 0.020" off the head, but you start to mess with the timing, and you start messing with the quench area on the head. Especially on 96-98 heads. I feel it is much safer to take any off the block if needed.

iirc the stock 96-98 pistons are like .007 in the hole and like .005 with the 99-02's but god its been a looooooooooong time since I measured that, lol. obviously there will be variance... I wanna say it ended up being the rods that were a tad different length?
either way, if you're building using aftermarket parts, its going to be different. deck the block to get the pistons at exactly .000 if need be.

Forgot about this guys sorry. I want to get my pistons dead even with the top of the block in effort to maximize quench. Im going no holds bar on this next engine. The car will be getting my company logo on it so it needs to back it up. I bringing the big guns on the next one

You can go above deck height too if you wanted.
On the inside my car looks like a fighter jet.
^yes, but then you run the risk of smacking the head. depends on how far you go but even with a .030 head gasket in there it is SUPER close. when you get this deep into a build you have to make 1000% sure you have enough clearance. ive seen first hand it not working out and it sucked balls.

Yes, on Paul's. The higher you rev the engine, the more caution needs to be taken to avoid this from happening.
