Seriously tho, Hector would probably be able to help you out more easily than I could. He lives like 15 minutes away from you I think.
It would help if you posted the problem . . . I'm pretty handy when it comes to computer problems.

well its being a PITA the ass. According to Dell the motherboard is dying on the computer. Its a Dell Inspiron 5150. Couple days ago it just randomly died on me. Ever since then I cant get it to work for more than 30 minutes. Sometimes it will load up fine then immediately freeze and sometimes it will freeze while booting. Other times I get a black screen with a flashing white cursor when i turn it out, and it doesnt even try to boot.

You've been looking at too many SAC's AG threads.
matter of fact it just died on me AGAIN. I got enough time to download my email and make that post before it died. bout 5-8 minutes that time.
The sooner anyone can heelp me the better. Thx guys

Almost sounds like it can be a memory issue, or processor. My computer kept randomly crashing and freezing on boot, and once i changed out my memory, everything went fine. Do you get any error codes or does it just freeze and thats it?
just freezes and thats it. i try to reboot it and ill get the black screen. we had it running last night for like 20 minues on only one memory stick thing but then it froze. Dell says the memory is attached to the motherboard so thats why I have to replace the MoBo.

Well, if its under warranty, just let them do it and replace that. Cause once you start getting into individually replacing the memory, the motherboard, the processor, it can start getting expensive, specially with a laptop.
Come to think about it, if it just boots into a black screen and doesn't want to move, that may even be a hard drive issue. Usually the mainboard doesn't just break out of no where. Usually it is something smaller. Have you had it connected to a power source when having a power surge, blackout, etc?
no powersurges that i can remember. is there anyone close by willing to come take a look at it or meet somewhere and take a look at it. if not im going to send it out to MD to JZ and have him look at it...and i dont wanna pay that shipping.
And the warrenty expired in september...of course

x2
I had to get the MoBo in my old laptop replaced. The power connector (for AC outlet) broke off the board. Luckily it was still under the Ext Warr (Best Buy) so I got the $350 MoBo replaced for free
Ish ain't cheap
I can't think of what the problem could be really. I've never heard of crap like that happening...
well its been up and running for over 20 minutes now as I've run AVG. seems to stay on as long as somethings happening on it. Hopefully the guys from WGN's Website Wednesday Night can help me out.

Dude I seriously think it's the built in fan those goes out plenty of times please ask RoboGeek or GAM or well known Techy's there it's a known fact that Dell's Fans goes out plenty of times but it could also be memory issues I seriously doubt it's a harddrive problem I can do test to find out otherwise including memory test too. But it's def sounds like a hardware problem which I can look into getting just that part replaced. Also just an FYI I myself own Dell laptop and I visit there website and forum regaurely on known hardware issues some of these latitude and inspiron faces. Just call my work Hypsy i'll PM and email my work number so you can reach me.

If it runs for about the 20-minutes, and crashes, and its usually about 20-minutes, it does sound like the fan. If the processor or power supply fan shuts down it'll overheat and crash, or it'll shut down, well, on a normal PC anyways. I think laptops just have heatsinks on their processors if I'm right? I haven't worked on a laptop in sometime now.
well its working fine now.
worked for 12hrs yesterday and so far its been on for almost 3 straight today. so whatever it was its ok now. the fan is working a lot less than before i cleaned it out but the computer is staying cooler all the time. most have been clogged with @!#$.

Thats common. See, like on my computer, I have 2 fans for the case, a processor heatsink w/fan, 2 fans on my power supply and a fan on my video card. I didn't clean it out for like 2/3 months, and my computer started freezing and crashing. I opened the case and damn near died of breathing issues when I went to town on it with an airgun, LOL.. So keeping the fans and heatsinks good and clear affects the computer a lot. If anything, try to keep it running where its not enclosed, like if you use it in a desk or something like that. Keep it where air can always get to it.
well its a laptop so its always sitting on my table. dont know where else to put it

Bingo ... laptops are really well known for there 1 or 2 fans getting stuck with gunk or not working in general period. I agree on keep it where air can always get into it. Either way I just PM my number Hypsy if you need anything.
