So I just found out today my motor is toast. So instead of just scrapping the car I'm going to try to throw a new one in. A couple of questions.
1.) Does anyone have an extra motor for a 2.2 ecotec.
2.) How hard is it to do a motor swap.
my buddy has done engine swaps before but only in supras.
3.) If it is pretty difficult will some one be able to help me with it. I'll pay gladly for help.
Thanks guys. I"m in the south west suburbs, oak lawn area.
im guessing from your name that you have an ecotec already......
so --
1- i dont but i've seen a few on here for sale recently. if your looking for an auto trans too, i've got one for sale for next to nothing, along with a few other parts.
2- its fairly simple. just make sure you label all the bolts as you take them off of the car.
3- once you get everything, i might be able to help you out for the cost of a few good meals lol. could get this @!#$ done in a weekend lol

Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.
They will find their way into the correct places.
Sorry just looking for the engine. I'm not sure what to do now. Im having some difficulty finding an engine, so what I may do is buy a beater car(anyone know of one for sale), and then work on my cavalier over the winter building it up. Me and a couple of budies are renting out a garage in an office park to work on cars so I might do that. However still looking for an engine.
i have a motor. its currently still in the car tho but the car is wrecked.
i really dont have a way to get it to u or have u get it so this was prob pointles but idk maybe if u can wait for a bit we can figure out something. im currently at school down in carbondale but i live in bourbonnais which is only like 45 from oak lawn. msg me and we can talk.
Can you guys pm info on the engines, like how many miles, condition, ect. The price and location. I really need this done as quick as possible.
Damn, I just threw away an ECOTEC last night. Very easy engine assembly to replace about as straight-forward as it gets for straight up replacement, if you make notes and use bags anyone can do it.
Ok good. I've decided to rebuild my engine over the winter to be a performance car. My buddy is opening up a shop with me(I'm in charge of the car audio/electronics portion) so this will be our first shop car. I've basically read every sticky in the performance forum and have been reading about the engine non stop. As soon as we move into our shop I'll start a progress thread in the photo/media forum. Thanks for all the help guys.
i thought you sold the car?
Was suppossed to but the guy I was going to sell it to backed out. So since my buddy and I are opening up the shop I would have the space and have the space and resources to work on it for a long period of time.
bluecavi, where you located?
i would just rebuild your stock motor
