Just wondered about installing an aftermarket deck in a 2000 Z. I have been told there is only 2 ways to do it - get the 130 data box to plug in or run the factory deck into the trunk and fool the car. neither one are what i really wanna do - especially the latter.
Any tips or tricks would be appreciated

You don't really need to do any of that crap.

Just wire the deck with a normal harness (say it's for a 2000 geo tracker) and wire it as normal, except for the power wire. Get the power from a +12v source in the car (windshield wiper fuse works good.) And thats it!

You'll lose the door chimes though. Personally, I don't give a crap about chimes.

Agreed, I have a 2k Z24.. I just wired it up normally, and put a fuse tap on the wipers. 2 years, no problems at all.
