End of the Z24Door Era
Monday, November 28, 2005 12:01 PM
Hey guys, Well here I am chilling with the z24door just playing around with a couple of things before I put her to sleep for the reason, well atleast in terms of having it sit with a cover while I work on other things. But the more I look under the rocker panels and the other rust areas of the car, at this point i'm more than likely going to complete take her apart and put everything into the absolutely mint '89 Z24 shell which has no interior, engine, etc, I can swap over every thing on the car and it will all go into the new coupe body.

I have been planning on getting the car painted, I have new mint doors from B.C. Fenders, trunk lid and a few other things. The car needs absolutely complete rocker panel assemblies, rear quarter wheel well lip assemblies as well as the dog leg sections. Those are the two worst areas of the car, The damn drain patch panel has rusted all the way around on the floor to the point where it is about 8" in diameter. The rest of the car is nice and solid. I can order the complete rocker panel/pinch weld assembly from work as well as whatever else as I need as it is all available from US warehouses. Realistically speaking it will cost me well over $3000 even from the cheapest place, most places around the city are $5000 + Unless someone knows a guy that does a good job and will do it for a killer deal then ok.

I don't have the money to put towards something like that. Well I can come up with it but I would like to finish paying bills off and ultimately purchase my house which I have started planning about a year and a half or so ago. It sure is depressing to tear off a chunk of the remaining rocker panel section each time I get under the car. If I was younger and had more money to blow on it then sure I would get it completely done no matter how much. But I have a mint '89 coupe shell in black saphire metallic sitting ready to be put together and driven.

Thats what I think i'm going to do, what do you guys think. Sure it isn't a four door but hey you know me I always come up with good ideas, I love my 4 door, it looks mean, lowered and with those rims and especially with the roar of the motor. There are a few mint stock cav's around like mine but the owners still want a few g's for them and I really don't feel like taking apart the other car completely and then taking mine apart, the shell is ready to accept the parts from my car so it ends up being half the work, in a way I think its fun too but that doesn't matter. I've had the car since new and have put hundreds of thousands of km's on it and have been all over Canada with it as well as certain parts of the states, lots of memories is what i'm trying to say. But the realistic side is starting to clash with the dreaming and sentimental side of me. I really wish I had it all painted up and I would of finally put it into a few shows, I've had a lot of people over the past few years think its a stang which is also one of my favorite cars, particular the '87-93 5.0 LX with the trunk and the DECH bumpers and skirts, chrome Cobra R-Wheels and a nice blower, i've posted pics of them before but I don't care what anyone says, from certain angles it looks similar. So anyways unless I win the lottery or come across a really nice person that will do me a good metal and paint job for a good price then ginobeats will be riding in the '89 Z24

This what the new gino mobile would look like, just picture my wheels on it:

Kinda sad that you are moving to a 2 door. I had a 4 door 88 in high school. Your car was what I had wished it to be back then.

I hope you are still working on a big Vortech set-up. That would be one evil package.

Good luck.
