Lookin 4 Trucking Or Heavy Machinery Job (Toronto)

Hello

I am looking to make more money (who isn't lol).... Well I am currently working for a trucking company locally (throughout Toronto, Ottawa and London ,general areas).. The odd time I have to travel into Michigan and Ohio with this specifc company... I am not making too bad of a wage, but again I would like to make more.. I am currently making $15.50/hr (raise soon to come)... The company I work for is out of Stouffville, On which is about a 30mins in travel time for me..

I live in Whitby.. So I am looking for a job closer to home if I can, so I only have a little amount of travel time.. Of course if the job pays enough per hour then I am willing to travel depending on the job and such..

I know there is potential for me to make in around $30-40/hr which is the wages I would be really happy to earn and would probably be a job I would stay at since it's a really good amount of money.. $15.50 is alright, but I mean I'd like to make more to afford toys, big house etc...

I am a truck driver right now, but not by choice.. I am trying to get into Heavy Machinery (I went to school for it but was never successful in gaining a career in this yet!!!).... I am certified for the following excavator, backhoe loader, bobcat/skidsteerer, grader, bulldozer, dump truck... I am a fast learner and I find myself to be a good operator. Now if I can find a good paying job in trucking I may stick to that, but I think machinery would pay more. I know how to use a forklift but not certifed on it anymore..

I am trying to get into some of the bigger companys as they pay good, good benefits and would be nice to work for them too.. I am tryng to get into Miller, Hard-Co, Town Of Whitby or Ajax, City of Pickering or Oshawa.. Or the Durham Region Works Department. I would even consider City of Toronto if the pay is right...

Baiscally what I am getting at is.. If anyone knows of a place that is hiring in my fields. Or if you work for any bigger company and maybe have some "pull" then that would be great.. To be honest with you.. If I can get into a bigger company like Miller as a Garbage or Recyling guy I will do that.. Just to get my foot in the door.. It's better to be doing something in a big company to get your foot in the door.. then it is to not have the inside at all.. Usally they offer these jobs to insiders first then they go public..

Any help would be great.. You can post here or email me a prostar01@rogers.com

Again.. Thanks

Thanks...

I have been trying, but like I said I really don't want to do trucking.. I acutally wanna do the heavy equipment part of it since there is more money in it.. And it doesn't involve driving a truck..

The problem with the trucking industry, is your not payed enough for the resonsibility you carry... There is so much more involved in driving the truck then most people think.. I mean when I am doing flatbed.. I have to make damn sure the load is sucured cause god for bid if I ever loose anything on the highway it could cause alot of problems (even death)... There is so many different fines you can get from being overweight to not having an updated logbook to a broken light out.. I mean for the amount we truckers have to worry about we should be getting paid alot more money.. Like look at it this way.. A cop has 2 licences, 1 for there regular home cars and 1 for when they are driving the cruiser.. If they get into an accident in the cop car it doesnt effect there car insurance or licence on the personal part.. Which dooesnt make sense why truckers can have the same thing.. Cause if I get into an accident in my truck it effects my personal insurance and my licence.. Well I think my truck is a little longer and harder to drive then a cop car..

Those are sorta the reason why I would like to get out of driving a truck on a daily basis.. I wouldn't mind if I have to drive once or twice a day.. But that's not the case..

I will still keep them in mind.. TDS I am tried cause my sisters friend works there but they arn't hiring they maybe laying off acutally..
