Hey guys, I'm new here and have a question that yes if I did a search I may find the answer to but it's a big site and I'm very lazy. To keep my old '95 coupe on the road I have found a '01 donor car with 88000Km's on the motor that could be had for @ $1000. How direct a swap would this be, both being 2.2L's

OBDI>OBDII.........don't even bother.
Different engines as well. 2.2 OHV < 2200 + as said above + Completely different electrical system in them.

Damn!, I was hoping they would be compatible. Well the reason I wanted to swap was that even though I only have @127,000Km's my engine sounds like a diesel at idle, I have noticed other cavai's on the road with a similar sound so it seems like a common problem. Would anybody have an idea as to what might be the cause?

Seafoam if, + oil change/ lucas oil stabilizer + Upper cylinder lubricant. Then check if the TB is clean, and IAT sensor is fudged. Also check your exuast to see if you have any broken baffles in the muffler, or if the stock cat is @!#$. Just some CHEAP ideas you could do to tune it up a bit.

seafoam IF?? i know alot about cars but i have never heard of this before
and the reason you get that diesel idle is because maybe the previous owner didnt do oil changes regularly
my 2.2 has 235 and it barely has the sound
but if i figure out this seafoam stuff maybe i will give that a try
i meant Seafoam "it".. typo I overlooked.
