Ok guys this is really upseting anyways last year I had a hit and run (rear bumper got damaged) there was a witness and I got all the information and the police found the suspect, he gave me 150$ and thats it, GM quoted me 750$ in damages for a new bumper. I was just beginning to get my bumper fixed so I could have the car nicely cleaned for the summer.
Today.. I walk out of work and I see that the door is smashed right at the fender just at the height of the Z24 symbol. Its about 0.5sqft dent in the metal. I'm thinking it happend yesterday because I was in a rush yesterday and probably didn't notice it, also I only park beside coworkers and there always people watching the parking lot. Also now one at my work drives a black car, some black paint on the door.
Now what really bugs me is how can someone be so inconsiderate and uncourteous!? I worked hard for my car and I saved up for it so I could buy a fully loaded Cavy Z24 thats what I always wanted and now I'm being punished for it? I take good care of it and make sure it is always looking presentable, I even bought a whole mothers kit for the spring time.
Now I feel like fixing up the mess and trading it in for another Cavy probably an 02-up so that I don't have that think about all these bad things.
I have been hit twice in the past 3 weeks. Both are going to require bumper repaints.... Its sucks man. I recently nicked a guys car, left all my info and payed for the damages... (280 $ worth on a tiny scuff..) He went to a high end bodyshop...
My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
i got hit 3 times in my works parking lot, cracked my front in 2 places, but my bot up in ajak is going to fix it for me at his shop fix the bumper and fender and paint ( two tone on both bumper and fender) repaint my rims to match my car for $500 bucks i cant caomplain with that
With daily drivers, things like that are just a fact of life. It sucks and you don't have to like it, but you should learn to accept that certain things are outside of your control. It doesn't matter how careful you are as a driver, you'll inevitably experience some freak random event that will damage your car..
It seems like the more that you care about your car's appearance, the more things will happen to it that will piss you off. Here's a short list of some the of things that have happened to my car in the past 4 1/2 years:
- Keyed 3 x.
- Rear ended 4 x (twice while stationary).
- Hit by shopping carts while parked.
- Hit by car doors from people who park next to me.
- Numerable stone chips (to both paint and glass).
- Broken into 3 times (including 2 smashed windows and 1destroyed door lock).
- Air Intake and MP3 deck stolen.
- Spoiler damaged by snow shovel that blew over.
- Dent from stray baseball.
- Chipped paint from door rubbing against fender (wtf?)
- Hail Damage
- Paint damage to roof, passenger door and rear 1/4 panel from crap that leaked onto my car while parked underground as the above ground lot was being repaved.
There wasn't much that I could have done to prevent any of the things listed above. There's even more crap that happened to my car as a result of my own lack of good common sense. Like the saying goes "Sh@t happens".
Unless you get a 2nd car, garage your Z24 and bring it out only for joy-rides, you're just gonna have to do your best to fix the problems when they happen and be content with the knowledge that your car will never be perfect.
BTW....sorry to hear about your paint damage.

Just had this happen to me today. I work at the Price Chopper on Ellesmere and McCowan Rd. Parked my car in my usual spot, at around 11:30 this guy comes in and says he is looking for the preson who owns the black cavalier, I tell him its me. He tells me that he opened his door after he parked beside me and he hit my car. I go out and sure enough a nice new dent and scratch, surface damge only. He tells me that his 95 chevy astrovan has a scratch on it as well i look at it and yes it does, the best part of the story is that he says he got it when he opened his door and hit my car so he wants me to pay for the damage to his car. I laughed in his face and told him that I was willing to forget the whole thing happened b/c he was considerate enough to come inside and tell me about the damage, but now i want him to pay for my damage. He told me I have no case and that he would take me to court to get the money owed to him if I didn't give him $500 right there. So I told him to get the f@#$ out of my face, as he left i took down his license plate # and have now passed off that info to a cousin of mine who is a cop. Sorry for the length of my story.
