Lots of good brands out there, depends what you're looking for? SQ or SPL? if you want high quality look for Alpine stuff, they are famous for their amazing SQ, but that's only if you're willing to shell out some big $$$. I just installed a system in my cav and it came to about $1000 after taxes and all. I put in 2 audiobahn 12" subs in a bandpass box, audiobahn A8000T amp, 4 gauge wiring all around, blaupunkt monterrey mp35 head unit, polk audio DB690's for the rear and DB525's for the front. I am completely satisfied with this set up. I have more bass than is bearable inside the car and the head unit and speakers make a really clean sound. I got almost all my stuff on ebay, everything except the wiring and installation stuff was from ebay. For $1000 i don't think i could have got much more. Take a look around ebay, lots of good deals within canada. But like i said, this stuff is kind of middle of the road, you can always get better but for a system in a daily driver, it's definitely more than i need power wise, and i'm satisfied with the clarity.

For subs....JL like the W3V2 or I am a huge fan of my Alpine type R

Head unit....Alpine all the way

speakers....alpine type R's once again are good but a better choice would be JL XR's or I think they have ZR's now....an last but deff. not least Focal makes amazing speakers.

^^^those are all more pricy items but that doesnt mean if you get something else that it wont sound good......apline has a Type S line that would save you some money

I have one true love in my life...And my girlfriend sits next to me in it

my steeo cost me $250. for the price, probably better SQ than most of the people on the org.

brand doesnt mean anything, it all depends on if it is properly installed and utilized right. anything can be made to sound good if you or someone you know know what they are doing.

my system was designed by my boss and pieced together and installed by myself. im more than happy.

it could hit harder, but thats not completely what its meant for. its got a good balance of SQ and SPL. go check out that sight i gave u the link to in your other post. www.xscargo.com and check out some of the ultra linear or cliff design stuff, its pretty good. or you can go and drop $1500 on some alpine type s stuff and be charged too much, what ever you feel like.

I gaurentee my system will completely blow your setup away buddy. $$$ + smarts + proper install = Good system. I have spent around 2100 Thus far on my current setup, and it was worth every penny. AND being I am competing in SQ I know for a fact a 250 $ budget system will not buy you sqaut besides maybe a half decent SUB + amp setup.

i didnt say mine was better than yours. by the sounds of it, you obviously have a grasp on what your doing. BUT, there are alot of people on here and people not on the org that havent a clue.

they think big sub + big amp = gold!

ya your system probably would blow mine away, thats why i said for the money i spent compared to some one who has spent several times what i have, its probably better when you factor in the price.

ive seen too many people get suckered in by big name brands and audio shop sales people who havent got a clue.

for example, my buddy and i went to Nosh audio in newmaket (where we live) and they were trying to talk him into tons of crap he didnt need.

i went there once when i was getting some distortion and i couldnt hear my sub anymore at high volumes. im only running a 4x30RMS amp. its 240 W peak, 20 Amps @ peak power. they were trying to convince me that the 10 AWG wire i was using wasnt enough to carry the power for my amp. turns out, once i completed my system and installed my EQ for my crossover, the problem went away. imagine that!

im not saying alpine is garbage, or the several thousands you have spent on your system is wasted, im mearly trying to say it is not needed. yes with budget systems you can only get so much without having to spend alot of cash, even if you know what you are doing.

there are lots of people out there spending way too much money on stuff they dont need. rear speakers arent needed, they are just another source of noise and distortion. i hauled my 6x9's out and only had my sub and the factory 4x6's going for the longest time. then i spent $30 on some 6" 2-ways with a non paper cone just for the better quality at higher volumes. didnt need to but i wanted to.

theres a guy i go to school with that has a $1500 head unit with the biggest feature being he can stage it. he can set the distance of the drivers and pasangers side front speakers. thats all fine and dandy, but it only sounds good for the driver as the pasanger side would need different parameters to sound as effective. this some effect can generally be achieved by flipping the polarity on one of the speakers, drivers side is what i have done. this puts them acoustically in phase instead of electrically in phase.

im sure your stereo sounds good short, but mine does too. you just spent alot more than i did, lol.

Just ask around here for someone to do an install on the deck for ya. Just post what area you're in and that you need someone to do a headunit install for ya. I'm sure you can get some one to do it for alot cheaper than 200, maybee even a case of beer. Worth asking around. Alot of people on this site can do HU installs.
