Got a ticket tonight for 120 in an 80. $295 should I bother trying to fight it?

fight it. its your right. theres always a chance cops wont show. trust me when i worked at the wash i seen on their comp monitors that said you are needed in the courthouse at 11:15, many times, of course its 11:00 and they are getting the car washed. and not just once, lots of times.

nope nothing. in fact heres a cool thing that might/might not happen. if the cop shows, your not screwed totally. the judge will say if you plead guilty we will reduce the ticket for you.

I could have swore I came across something that said you could be stuck with part of the cost of fighting it. I got nailed goin 40 over and the cop reduced it to 20 over. What I didnt like is I pled guilty and paid it then a couple weeks later I got a letter from the ministry telling me they were deducting (I think) 3 points for goin 20 over. If I had known they were gonna do that I would have fought it.

From what I hear most cops dont show up for court (tickets) and even if they do often times it gets reduced more so it may be worth it.

However I think the best idea may be to just slow the Fu*k down.

So im giong to take it to court choosing option 3 (Trial Option) but I don't know which to choose. It says:

  • I intend to appear in court to enter a plea at the time and date set for the trial and I wish that it be held in the english language.
  • I intend to challenge the evidence of the offences officer.
  • yes
  • no

Note: if you indicate "No" above the officer may not attend, and the prosecutor may rely on certified statements as evidence against you.

Why are you challenging it, because you dont want to pay for doing someting illegal? Suck it up princess and pay the ticket...

ask to see the calibration record of the radar unit the cop was using. if it wasn't calibrated or if he doesn't have the cal record with him it will be thrown out.

I know in florida there is a penalty that the judge can enforce, like 400-500 dollars, if you contest a ticket and you were guilty, but it might just be there to discourage you to challenge a ticket. Its your call but if you go to court you might want to think about a lawyer just so you dont get @!#$ over.

just a thought , but look into your laws, here in PA there is something called 3111 A. which is failure to obey a traffic control device. Ive gotten outta numerous tickets, my biggest was 98 mph a 55mph, my last one i told the cop i was gonna plea guilty to a 3111a. in court so just save us both some time and give it to me....and he did, but it works every time.... 67 in a 40..., 57 in a 35.... plus the best part , zero points and half the fine, and it doesn't show up on your record

in canada its our RIGHT to fight the ticket at no extra charge.

again, suck it up Princess and pay your ticket. What are you going to say when the cop does show up?

"Uhh..I was kind of hoping the cop wouldnt' show up so uh....can I uh...pay less?"

weaksauce...

I was just going to pay the ticket just like I had in the past. But I was informed not to by numerous people because I could fight it at no extra charge and if the cop does not show the case will most likely be thrown out. If he does show, I plead guilty and the worst that could happen is I have to pay the fine. I like my chances, what do I have to lose? a couple hours on a thursday, omg. I know i'm in the wrong for speeding. theres no ifs, ands, or butts about it. but if I have the chance to pay nothing and not lose any points then i'm obviously going to take that chance. Anyone with a head on their shoulders would.

So back to my question.

Which option should I choose from above?
should I challenge the evidence of the offence officer?

im gunna suggest hiring pointts or ex copper... in the last year i've had about 12 tickets that i've taken to pointts, they've got me off every one... they are a bit pricey, in your case they may charge u about the same as your fine on the ticket, but its worth it.. you end up saving on insurance, cuz everytime u get convicted of a ticket, up goes the insurance.. if your just gunna fight it yourself and the cop does show up just ask the judge for a lesser fine, most of the time they say yes..

FIGHT IT

I jsut fought a 111 in a 80 ticket (kms)

Got it down on only 21 over instead of 31

HUGE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE, plus 3 points vs 4 points.
