umm as far as I know they don't. I think its mainly because the 95 to 98 trans were made by Isuzu and the 00 and up were made by Getrag. I could be wrong tho so don't quote me on anything. Somone here must know and can answer your question correctly.

If you can't even spell Ecotec properly, perhaps these aren't questions you should be asking.....

you are right, it wont bolt up, but as for the reason, no. the 2200 from 00-02 came with a getrag. BUT, the bolt pattern is different between the ohv and the eco.

Ever heard of the concept tough love ? It works better then freindly warnings. IF you can't stick it through Bill's attitude, do not expect to stick it threw anything tough when it comes to modding our econo boxes.

To answer the question, you will need a tranny from an eco, nothing else will bolt up.

Thanks Rich. I knew it was something like that. I guess I could have concluded that the 2200 and the eco would have differences, my bad.

A 2200 getrag yes, but not an Eco getrag, different bell housing.

there is no such thing as a 2200 ecotec

the only thing that is similar is the displacement, the engine themselves are completely different

Let's keep it simple for ya.

Ecotec motor requires an Ecotec transmission due to differences in the bellhousing bolt-pattern.

So get yourself an all-ecotec transmisson. Just look up for a 2.2 Ecotec 5spd... they're pretty common. You can even try car-part.com to see if any yards near you have some low-mileage salvaged ones.
