hey guys,
just looking for as much advice as possible before i go ahead and start dimmpin my hands into things i know very little about. i have a complete set of aftermarket gauges i was going to use for my custom dash setup. after talking to a few people, i understand that i will have to keep my stock cluster wired in so that the theftlock would still function properly.
what i'm curious to know if it is possible to splice the wiring for the new gauges into the harness of the factory cluster, or if i'm going to have to run completely new wiring for each gauge? any wiring diagrams of the stock harness would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
a buddy of mine did a custom dash with aftermarket gauges and keep his stock IPC and hid it under the dash and just ran new wiring for the after market gauges.
thanks for the great replies!
i was planning on putting my gauge cluster over into the gap left since i removed the passenger side airbag. what i'm real curious about now is knowing if i can splice into any of the factory wirings that came off the harness for the gauge cluster, or if i'll have to wire everything on its own
thanks again!
currently i'll be putting in a speedo, tach, fuel level, volts, water temp, air/fuel, and oil pressure
I re-wired mine last year...and to be honest, it was A LOT easier than I thought it would be.
What type of gauges? Cyberdyne? Dakota?...
Keeping the stock cluster connected is an auto theft security our cars have. If your cluster isn't connected your car will start and turn off within a few seconds. I just kept the circuit board connected between two thin pieces of wood, rather than having the huge bulky cluster hidden...makes it easier to tuck away.
If you have Cyberdyne gauges, I can find a how to from an email I got last year. It helped out a lot.
i say scrap the whole interior project dude its a waste of time and money.
then give it to me so i can put it in my car(the whole interior that is)..lol
