Just saw it on the news andits like WTF!
According to News 12, in Florida it will now be illegal(next month actually) to have your stereo volume high enough to be heard from 25ft. A fricken set of bargain bin subs can be heard from 25ft for crying out loud..... The thing that peeves me is this is the first announcement that ive heard about it, IE wheres my opinion on this matter being an audio buff my say should have been heard. Not just new laws put into effect without me knowing.... Has anyone heard any plans for this before now?
wicked
wow..and what is it now..100ft?? I got one of those tickets once...Obviously it was BS since it was a motorcycle cop..but wow..25ft that's pretty gh3y

yea right now its 100 which is reasonable(mines about 30 when im going for clean sound....)
I know I'm not from florida but here is the article for all who care:
Turn Down Your Tunes

This came out on the Miami Herald last month

o well let the tickets come i say i will fight bc what if you are at a car show and you are showing off your stuff for a contest i mean i guess they might let that slide but my sterios is gonna pound wether they like it or not lol
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
This isn't new by any means. I heard about this awhile ago. It's called keeping up with current events.
If you're old enough to vote, you've got no room to complain unless you made your voice heard and voted against it. And if you think just blasting your stereo any louder is going to prove anything to the police, you are sadly mistaken.
And before anyone asks, yes my stereo is loud enough to be heard from 25ft away. Sure, I occasionally turn it up pretty loud. But if I get a ticket, I'll just deal with it, rather than complain about how this somehow makes police officers gay.

yeah but 25ft? you can hear a crappy stock radio at 25 ft. you can hear peoples dog barking in the middle of the night from further away. I didn't see this on a ballot when I voted, I think I'll ask to see what it was I thought I was voting on again.
Rally: Ill be old enough to vote in July, however I have been active politically before(last summer and multiple times during the fall), and was keeping well up on current events this year. Never once did I hear of this, other than the typical Cop on News: "Teenagers play their radios too loud" bullcrap.
The problem is I never once heard of this before. It wasnt on the ballots back at primary or the general election. That tells me that its some crap handed down from tallahassee(just like that whole "oh if you feel threatened you can use force" bullcrap).
well cant really think of anything constructive to say so ill just let this post be a rant....
as far as at a show i dont think you have to worry...the law is concerned with public streets. i myself kinda like it...im sick of peoples bass rattling my frikkin mirrors...or having to hear half the junk people play anyways...wanna play your crap loud?? roll up your windows.since you guys want to vote so bad...take a vote of people in traffic and see how many DONT want to hear YOUR music...not everyone likes the same stuff you do...

I guess it's time to mark of 25 ft and figure out what I should set my radio to.... f0cking assh0le lawmakers.
sadly the majority in this state is either old retiree's or imagrants legal or not so i imgine no one really gave to much thought to this besides giving in to the majority(old people) allthought i do get sick of some of the cars on the road even more so when they fall apart on the highway in front of me

There's more to it than simply voting for laws. You have to learn about your representatives. See what their views are on topics that matter to you. Then get out there and get people to vote for him or her.
Like I said, I've been guilty of turning up my stereo before and surely will be again. Some day, I may even get a ticket for it. But there's no sense in complaining about it.
Some people seem to forget that driving is a priveledge, not a right.

well when Palm beach stops being one of the worst counties for urban sprawl then i may agree with you thatdriving is a priviledge till then its almost impossible(dont say palmtran, ive done it before ends up taking 3 hours to get any fricken where) to do what needs to be done without a car.
Anyways you brought up the main problem with representative democracy, it isnt truly democracy as defined in Blacks Law Dictionary Second Pocked Edition Democracy is majority rules while preserving minority rights. However according to our current system unless the minority rights represent civil liberties of a physical minority(IE race) you get absolutely nowhere in the way of making changes. Thats not including the fact that this law, as an example, is statewide thus changing the representative from your district to one that supports your view would have no effect without a statewide coalition, because youd still be the minority.
And as a counter to your thoughts that Im complaining, your mistaking my initial reason for writing for this topic. I was wanting to find others which shared my thoughts/views, see how many others found this sudden, possible counters to it(anyways whats to determine it, at night you can hear a stock engine from 25 feet on a truck without modified exhaust at idle, easily. how do you determine it while moving? if a cars going by you cant really say 'oh well i heard it and i was 100 feet away', in traffic you cant hear stereos without being crazy cranked from more than a carlength or two because you have all the other noise), etc

wow, looks like i cant really listen to my bass anymore...this sucks, i guess florida is running out of things to give tickets for...oh i dont think the cops in Winter Springs will care to much, bc they only do speed and party busting...i had a broken tail light for a month, and i know they saw it several times and i was not pulled over, not once...but if harleys can make a that noise and not get a ticket then so can i!!!!
florida is such
sometimes....i wanna move somewhere else, but i like the weather here...hehe

So, you're afraid of someone not agreeing with your views?

why would i be afraid of them not sharing my views? i was clarifying for others my reason for starting the topic since reading it made it seem somewhat of a troller, which it was but for opinions not a bickering match
